Presence of complex factors like ageing security assets, limited technical expertise and inflexible infrastructure calls for better asset management for Railway Protection Force.
After being in suspension since 25 March to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Indian Railways partially resumed its operations to ferry the migrant workers, however this time not without robust safety measures.
On one hand, where some zones have installed a newly Automated Ticket Checking & Managing Access Machine (ATMA) to avert COVID-19 transmission – generating non-fare revenue, on the other, the Railway Protection Force (IRPFS) has leveraged modern inventory management descriptive analytics tool developed by ACSG Corp to ease Asset management challenges.
By inculcating digital techniques such as resource allocation and user-friendly interface, ACSG Corp, an Indian Critical Infrastructure Protection, addresses complex challenges faced by IRPFS amidst COVID-19 outbreak.
Presence of Complex factors:
For instance, securing and protecting the railway properties and operations is a humongous task for the IRPFS. They not just protect, safeguard railway property & keep a check on crime, but also work to remove any obstruction in the movement of railway properties.
However, often the work carried out by IRPFS is impacted due to the presence of complex factors like ageing security assets, inflexible structure and limited technical expertise, shooting up the asset management challenges.
Towards Atmanirbhar Bharat:
Furthermore, as tensions continue to rise along LAC with China, Indian Railways is looking to terminate the contract of China Railway Signal and Communication (CRSC) Corp – tasked to install signalling system on 400km of railway lines in the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, which is also in line with Centre’s call for Atmanirbhar Bharat or promotion of Make in India – for boosting the local economy.
By leveraging new-age technologies like AI and ML, ACSG Corp, not just automates asset and data management for the IRPFS but also fosters the spirit of self-reliance as it only serves Indian organizations and develops customized analytics tools indigenously.
“We are aggressively working on developing a more efficient management system for inventory control to improve the workability of the Indian Railway Protection Force Service (IRPFS). Also, with evolving technology and uncertainty around COVID-19, IRPFS have a huge challenge ahead, which can only be compensated with good inventory planning and management,” says the official spokesperson of ACSG Corp.
Keeping in mind the need to safeguard critical information, the descriptive analytics platform is specially designed with optimum security features such as safety wall, encrypted codes and high-level authentication, and will further be audited by a CERT-IN empanelled agency for a security audit.
An efficient and productive modern forecasting and optimization system is important for the IRPFS during these times. The analytics tool developed by ACSG Corp helps to analyze the lifespan of the assets, simplifying the entire process of policy formulation and procurement of security equipment with minimum physical contact, thereby complementing the effective maintenance of security assets amidst COVID-19.
